Our Facilities
At Performance Park...
Performance Park Racing offers their clients the best of both worlds in racing; training and agistment, the necessary reqirements for success in a competitive sport. The training centre at Morphettville is a stone throw from South Australia's racing headquarters. Here we can utilize the training tracks plus the water-walker for recovery and the swimming pool. Our 180 acre horse property at Macclesfield 34km from the city of Adelaide is a wonderful asset. Established and developed by noted sportsman Mike Nunan, it is recognized as one of SA's most pristine thoroughbred establishments. Performance Park Racing's resident trainer Will Clarken utilizes both the property and the Morphettville stables in his training endeavors .
With Mike's vast knowledge of sports fitness and Will's understanding of racing, Performance Park Racing offers clients a scientific approach to the art of thoroughbred preparation. Performance Park Racing currently have several thoroughbreds to race and welcome participation by interested parties. Visit our 'Horses Available' section and contact Will for further details.
Facilities include:
23 day yards, 17 irrigated grass yards,10 boxes, and 16 paddocks. We like to ensure that the horses in training have adequate time in the yards and paddocks, and are not confined to the boxes for 23 hours a day as in more traditional operations. The adage that 'a happy horse is a winning horse' prevails at Performance Park
A "beach sand" track which has been especially constructed to allow us to train horses at higher intensity without increasing the impact on the legs. The sand track is 904 meters in circumference.
Two "dolomite and sand" tracks. The trotting track is 900 meters in length and the gallop track is 1700 meters long.
A grass gallop track of 800 metres with a timing system (to nearest 1/100th second) for the 200 meters “up the hill”. We can use this measure of speed to help identify talented horses. It is also the chute for our starting stalls.

A fast speed treadmill for training and for testing. The treadmill ensures that in inclement weather we are able to maintain our training program as every session can be reproduced on the treadmill. It is highly beneficial for endoscopic examinations at race speed.
An eight horse walker to ensure our horses are sufficiently warmed up and cooled down before and after training sessions. It also used for muscle development and education for young horses.
Large Round Yard for preparing breakers and controlled training sessions. It is rubber-lined for horses safety.
Starting Gates to ensure our pre-trainers and breakers are ready for the race track. Barrier education is essential for a young horses' future. Races are won and loss at the gates!
